Ask A Librarian

What online source can I find the answer to this?

During the Depression, the Works Progress Administration undertook to interview surviving freedpeople throughout the American South. I’m looking for a volume dedicated to interviews done in Arkansas. Can you find it and give the names of two of the interviewees?

Answer

The WPA Slave Narratives are public domain documents available from the federal government.

As a public domain book, I would first recommend searching project gutenberg.
